New: SARS-CoV-2 sampling kit for face masks
People infected with coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 secrete the virus through droplets when breathing out, speaking, coughing, or sneezing. Wearing mouth, nose, or any respiratory mask is therefore intended to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
Studies have shown that SARS-CoV-2 can be detected in masks worn by infected people. To prevent a further spread of COVID-19, BAV INSTITUT now offers, along with various surface tests, the testing of worn face masks for coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.
The respective sampling set can be ordered immediately from BAV INSTITUT, a member of the Tentamus Group. The sampling can be easily carried out using the sampling kit with the included instructions for use. After sampling surfaces and/or face masks, the swab samples can be sent to the laboratory using a special uncooled transport medium. You will receive the results no later than two working days after receipt of the samples.
By testing used masks or surfaces for coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the following information can be obtained:
- If a mask test yields positive results, it indicates that the wearer of the mask is infected with the virus, or that the virus was present in his/her environment
- If the mask is checked after reprocessing or washing, a positive result indicates that the reprocessing or washing of the mask was insufficient. This means the goal of the washing was not achieved, and the process needs to be urgently improved, as the reuse of contaminated face masks poses a major health risk
- If results from surfaces are positive, the spread of the virus as well as potential infected persons and/or infection pathways can be detected. Immediate action regarding preventative & hygiene measures can be taken, enabling companies and institutions to prevent the virus spreading early on. The risk of business closure and further infections of employees can be significantly reduced.
