GermidentificationinfewminuteswithMALDI-TOF

For over three years, the BAV Institute has been successfully using the MALDI-TOF method to identify microorganisms.

More than 20,000 microorganism identifications are carried out annually in the BAV laboratory. Customers benefit from the significant advantages of the method:

In the MALDI-TOF method, the processed analysis sample is bombarded with a laser, causing ionization of the ribosomal proteins, which are accelerated in the electric field of the mass analyzer. The flight time of the proteins, according to their charge and mass, is measured in a vacuum, and species-specific mass spectra are generated (mass spectrometry). These spectra are compared with a database. Currently, the BAV database contains over 7,000 microorganism strains.

The MALDI-TOF method has been routinely used for over 10 years in microbiology for microorganism identification (medical microbiology, food microbiology, etc.). There are numerous studies showing that the identification results with MALDI-TOF are considered at least equivalent or even more reliable than traditional biochemical methods. (see links below).

Our customer advisors are very happy to answer any questions you may have.
