New ISO standard for the determination of heavy metals in cosmetics

New ISO standard for the determination of heavy metals in cosmetics

In the field of testing for heavy metal residues in cosmetics, the new ISO standard DIN EN ISO 21392:2022-02 has been published (Measurement of trace metals in cosmetic finished products by ICP-MS). The standard describes a procedure for the determination of heavy metals in cosmetics and raw materials, including arsenic, antimony, lead, cadmium, cobalt, chromium, and nickel.

However, according to this standard, many other metals can also be determined.

Our institute within the international Tentamus laboratory group meets the requirements of this new standard in the context of heavy metal analysis. We analyze possible residues of heavy metals in cosmetics and cosmetic raw materials quickly and reliably for you (compliance with Regulation (EC) 1223/2009).

Through a BVL monitoring from the year 2016, technical guideline values for maximum contents of heavy metals in cosmetics are defined.
