What should be considered in a sampling plan for environmental investigations on Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria spp.?
In the guideline on preventive measures against Listeria monocytogenes by the German Food Association, useful information and important aspects for creating sampling plans for environmental investigations are mentioned in section 7.1 "Environmental monitoring for Listeria spp. and/or Listeria monocytogenes".
Furthermore, a sampling plan must include at least the following details:
- Sampling location
- Frequency of sampling
- Number of samples
- Time of sampling
- Sampled area
- Sampling technique (e.g. sponge or swab)
In Chapter 7.1.2, a table in the guideline illustrates an example of a sampling plan for a larger production facility, along with the linking.
