Approved third countries for the import of insects for human consumption

From which third countries insects intended for human consumption may be imported into the Union is precisely defined in Regulation (EU) 2019/626.

In addition, the Official Journal of the European Union published the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/171 on 15.02.2021. This regulation expands the list of authorized third countries.

The import of insects intended for human consumption may currently only be made from the following third countries:

• Canada
• Switzerland
• South Korea
• Thailand
• Vietnam
