BfR-Communication: "Risk Assessment of the Next Generation": New Testing Methods for Chemicals are Discussed
The risk assessment of chemicals faces major challenges as humans come into contact with more and more substances. Additionally, new chemicals and mixtures of substances are entering the market. From May 29 to June 1, 2023, 350 scientists will meet in Berlin to discuss new methods for hazard and risk assessment of chemicals.
The meeting is taking place as part of the European Union's research program "PARC." "PARC" stands for "European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals" and aims to strengthen European research on chemical assessment to protect human health and the environment. For this purpose, a "next-generation risk assessment" is to be developed. The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) is significantly involved in PARC. The focus of its work is on developing new methods for risk assessment.
