Öko-Test January 2022: Fruit muesli contaminated with mineral oils (MOSH/ MOAH) and pesticides
Öko-Test has tested 50 fruit mueslis for harmful substances. 29 products were from controlled organic farming. In all 21 fruit mueslis from conventional brands, Öko-Test found at least one pesticide in traces. In some cases, the pesticides found in conventional mueslis were those that are banned in the EU. In the organic mueslis, pesticides were detected in one product.
Öko-Test also criticized some conventional and organic mueslis for contamination with mineral oil components. Eleven times, saturated mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOSH) were detected, and four times aromatic mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOAH) were found. The residues can enter the muesli through packaging or machine lubricants.
The partially high sugar content was also criticized.
