Law No. 2025-188 France – Ban on the use of PFAS in cosmetics
With the National Law No. 20225-188 of February 27, 2025, the use of PFAS in cosmetics in France is newly regulated. The active addition of PFAS as well as the sale of cosmetics to which these PFAS have been added is prohibited in France from January 1, 2026.
This national legislation is not in contradiction to EU legislation with the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, but rather complements or tightens the new law.
PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) have been under discussion for some time, a ban on their use is likely, but it will take time due to their widespread use.
At the level of the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency), a possible ban is currently being discussed.
Our institute, in cooperation with the Tentamus laboratory group, analyzes your end products or raw materials quickly and reliably for the presence of PFAS substances. Contact us, we look forward to your message.
