Microbiological Stability of Cosmetics – ISO 11930 and Ph.Eur.
Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 requires stable cosmetic products throughout their entire shelf life, which includes microbiological product stability. This is tested through the so-called Preservative Efficacy Test (PET, other terms: preservative challenge test, Challenge Test, KBT, adequate preservation test). This is commonly tested in accordance with ISO 11930 as the state of the art.
