Öko-Test examines liquid soaps - products with methylchloroisothiazolinone (CIT)

In the current magazine from Öko-Test (January 2023), a total of 48 liquid soaps were examined in detail. These products have played an important role, especially since the beginning of the Covid pandemic and the topic of hygiene.

A total of 48 products were tested for various restricted and prohibited substances according to the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, and the claims were also reviewed. 15 products received the rating very good, and five soaps are not recommended.

Reasons for downgrading by one or more grades included:

-          Halogen-organic compounds

-          PEG (polyethylene glycol) and PEG derivatives

-          Critical fragrances

-          Artificial musk fragrance (polycyclic musk compounds)
