Öko-Test has scrutinized plant and alternative hair colors.
In the September edition of the Öko-Test magazine, a total of 17 plant-based and alternative hair colors were thoroughly examined and sent to the laboratories to be tested for questionable and controversial ingredients. 7 of the 17 products received the grade very good; however, 5 products were rated as "unsatisfactory".
A downgrading was caused by, among other things:
- Allergy-causing resorcinol
- Questionable fragrances
- Halogenated organic compounds
- Diethyl phthalate (DEP)
