Practical Determination of Period After Opening (PAO) – new article in the sofw

Under the title “Guide to the Practical Determination of Period After Opening (PAO) for Cosmetic Products”, an article by the GÖCH (Microbiology Working Group) appeared in the journal sofw. This article demonstrates how a PAO can be determined experimentally and which test parameters are relevant.

As part of Annex I of the Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, data on shelf life must be determined in advance for each cosmetic product. The indication is not relevant, for example, for products intended for single use or for aerosols. The article also presents common PAOs for various products such as shower gels, shampoos, toothpaste, etc., in tabular form.
