Preservative Efficacy Test according to ISO 11930
Preservative efficacy testing is an important tool to assess the microbiological stability of a cosmetic product. In addition to testing the microbiological quality of cosmetics, the legally required safety assessment also includes preservative efficacy testing.
It should be noted that microbial load tests are always just models to simulate possible microbial contamination of the products. Even when all criteria are met, there are no guarantees that these standard tests provide information on all conceivable microbial contamination. The world of microorganisms is too large and diverse for this. In addition to possible microbial contamination of products during storage and use, there are other factors such as consistency and smell that can change adversely during the shelf life.
The BAV Institute is one of the largest and most modern microbiological contract laboratories in Germany. Due to the high routine in cosmetic testing, there are no waiting times for preservative efficacy testing.
In 2017, we conducted over 5,500 preservative efficacy tests in our laboratory. We provide you with fast and reliable results.
