From December 13, 2024, the new regulation on general product safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 - General Product Safety Regulation, GPSR, will apply. Directive 2001/95/EC will be repealed.

From now on, an internal risk analysis must be conducted, and technical documentation created for each product. New are also the information obligations for online trade. Each product offering must include manufacturer identification, including an email address, as well as warning notices and safety information.

The presentation of a product is crucial for assessing product safety. This is especially the case if the consumer could be induced to use the product in a manner other than that for which it was intended. Here, particular attention must be paid to confusion with food products (bringing to mouth, sucking and swallowing by children).

The new regulation aims to ensure that products become safer for consumers and comply with European standards.
