LMIV-QUID-Declaration for Compound Ingredients

In its 115th session, the ALTS addressed the question of whether the quantitative indication of certain ingredients must refer to the final product or if the indication can refer to the compound ingredient.

Mandatory quantitative indications of certain ingredients must refer to the final product. Thus, it is not sufficient to refer to the quantity of individual ingredients based on the compound ingredient.

A QUID indication of a compound ingredient is only possible if the quantitative indication of this ingredient is also based on the final product.

Thus, in the case of tortellini with a spinach and cheese filling, the quantitative indication of spinach must refer to the final product and not just to the filling.
