Raw material analyses of cosmetics

Cosmetic raw materials must be suitable and safe for the manufacture of cosmetics (Regulation (EC) 1223/2009). In most cases, documentation from raw material manufacturers, including certificates of analysis, demonstrate the quality of the raw materials used.

Nevertheless, the quality of raw materials—especially those sourced from natural origins—can be subject to significant fluctuations. Therefore, periodically verify the quality of your raw materials based on specific test parameters. These parameters can include:

• Microbiological quality (ISO 17516)
• Pesticides
• Heavy metals
• General chemical-physical parameters such as pH-value, density, viscosity, etc.

The BAV Institute as part of the international Tentamus Laboratory Group conducts all relevant microbiological and chemical tests for you.
