New Regulation UV Filters Octocrylene and Benzophenone-3 for Cosmetics

With Regulation (EU) 2022/1176, the allowable maximum amounts of the two UV filters for cosmetics Octocrylene and Benzophenone-3 were newly regulated. This is accompanied by an amendment to the entry in Annex VI of the Cosmetics Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.

The transition periods are set for January 28, 2023, as the cut-off date for placing on the market, and July 28, 2023, as the cut-off date for making products available on the market. After this date, no products that do not meet the specified criteria may be sold.
