Reference values for Vitamin D changed - In BAV Newsletter 01/2012
The German Nutrition Society (DGE) has changed the DACH reference values for vitamin D based on the latest research findings. The recommended intake for children aged 1 year and older and adults has been increased from 5 and 10 μg/day to 20 μg/day (equivalent to 800 IU/day). In Germany, around 60% of the population is said to have insufficient vitamin D supply.
