Restriction on zinc oxide in cosmetic products that may be accidentally inhaled

Restriction on zinc oxide in cosmetic products that may be accidentally inhaled

Due to an amendment of the Cosmetics Regulation, there is a new regulation for the substance zinc oxide. It is used in cosmetic products, among others, as a UV filter and colorant. However, since the substance can lead to pneumonia when entering the lungs, its use in cosmetics is restricted.

From 02/24/18, cosmetics that can be accidentally inhaled and contain zinc oxide may no longer be marketed. Products already on the market may still be sold until 05/24/18.
