Stability testing of cosmetic products
Cosmetic products must be safe and stable for the consumer. This must be demonstrated according to the safety report in Annex 1 of Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009. This applies to every product!
How can sufficient stability of my product be demonstrated? What tests need to be conducted? Are there regulatory requirements?
All these questions are answered by the experts of the BAV Institute, specifically for your product. When testing your product, the following among others are determined:
- product-specific test parameters such as
- microbiological examinations according to DIN EN ISO 17516
- pH-value
- Density etc.
- Test temperatures: often 4°C and 40°C, as well as alternating 4°C/40°C (pendulum test)
- Storage times
Relevant regulatory requirements, such as ISO/TR 18811, are considered in the design of stability tests.
