Stiftung Warentest examines Christmas cookies for acrylamide

The consumer organization Stiftung Warentest examined 49 different types of Christmas cookies for acrylamide. In 39 of the 49 examined gingerbreads, speculaas, and vanilla crescents, only very low amounts of acrylamide were detected. However, one gingerbread exceeded the guideline value set in the EU regulation, and four other baked goods showed significant acrylamide contamination.

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), acrylamide increases the risk of cancer and affects both male reproduction and embryonic development.

In our Tentamus laboratories, we regularly perform testing for acrylamide. We provide you with fast and reliable results.

Our customer advisors are very happy to assist you with any questions.
