What to consider in microbiological testing of cosmetic products
Again and again, questions arise about how to properly conduct microbiological testing of cosmetic products as well as raw materials. What should be considered? Do I need to dilute my product? What regulations are there?
The BAV Institute conducts microbiological tests according to the latest state of the art and uses testing procedures that provide safe and reliable results. With the analytics at the BAV Institute, you fulfill the requirements of DIN EN ISO 17516, including the examination of whether specified microorganisms are present in your product. These specified microorganisms include:
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Escherichia coli
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Candida albicans
A recently published article by the DGK (German Society for Applied Cosmetics) explains all essential aspects and regulations in conducting microbiological tests. The publication can be found at: https://web.dgk-ev.de/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Mikrobiologie-von-Kosmetika_Grundanforderungen_2018-11-30-1.pdf
