Reviewing packaging printing for EU compliance
The Cosmetics Regulation specifies requirements for packaging printing. Mandatory information includes:
- Name and address of the responsible person
- Country of origin if the cosmetic product is imported into the EU
- Nominal content (volume or weight) at filling time
- Shelf life information
- Special precautions for use
- Batch number
- Description of product function
- List of ingredients

Certain packaging types, such as aerosol cans, must comply with hazard symbols according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. The Prepackaging Ordinance FertigPackV 1981 also provides binding guidelines and symbols for cosmetic products.
